Puerto Aventuras Transportation

Puerto Aventuras is located about 1 hour south of the Cancun International Airport and is easily accessible from the airport by pre-arranged private Transportation.

There are many ways to Get to Puerto Aventuras from the Airport such as Renting a Car, taking a taxi, or the ADO bus to Playa Del Carmen and then a shuttle from Playa Del Carmen to the Entrance of Puerto Aventuras. But without a doubt the best way and usually most economic is hiring a car or van service prior to arriving (Pre-paid airport transfers) since the chofer will be waiting for you when you exit with your luggage and take you and your family directly to the door of your hotel or condo in Puerto Aventuras or anywhere in Cancun, Playa Del Carmen, The Riviera Maya or Tulum for that matter. • Vans
  • There are vans that can take you from the airport to the Hotels, Condos or Private Homes in Puerto Aventuras either by means of a Shuttle Style Airport Transfer or VIP (Private) car or van service for only you and your family. Generally if you are less than 3 people the "Shuttle" or "Regular" service is the most economic option offering a per person rate. If you are 3 people or more in your family or group or if you don't want to sit and wait while they fill the van up or take the time dropping off along the way then for sure the VIP or "PRIVATE" transportation option is the best for you.
• Taxis
  • There are no "Taxis" per se who do transfers from the airport to anywhere, they are car services controlled by the airport taxi union and they have unbelievable high rates to drive you to the hotels in Puerto Aventuras. We don't recommend this option from the Airport but for speed getting to your hotel, you might want to spend the extra $$.
  • There are taxis at Puerto Aventuras near the parking area of the Omni Hotel and at the entrances of all of the hotels. There are generally NO taxis patrolling looking for passengers, you will need to walk to one of the locations where the taxis are stationed.
• Out of town buses
  • Buses do not come into Puerto Aventuras to pick up nor drop off passengers. All bus service is from the highway at the entrance of Puerto Aventuras. There are 2 bus lines that you find passing Puerto Aventuras; ADO and Mayab. ADO is a first class bus line and offers very comfortable services between Tulum and Playa Del Carmen with stops at Xcaret if you are heading towards Playa Del Carmen. The Mayab is also an air conditioned bus service but far from "First Class" for tourists. Typically this is the bus you will find many laborors using to move about and we have encountered at times that the interior of the buses have a horrible smell. If you don't want to wait for the ADO it is an option.
• Collective Vans:
  • Collective Vans pass along the highway going to Playa Del Carmen and Tulum, this is a usually AIR CONDITIONED collective transportation service that is a great option. You can board right in front of Puerto Aventuras entrance and get off anywhere along the way all the way to the drop off location near 5th Ave. and Juarez in Playa Del Carmen. If you are heading to Tulum the same applies, you can get off anywhere along the way and board anywhere along the highway as well.
• Renting a Car:
  • Renting a Car has become quite popular for people visiting the Riviera Maya as opposed to a city destination like Cancun or Playa Del Carmen. Visitors to the Riviera Maya are generally more adventuras and don't want to be restricted to doing group or organized tours only, they want to be able to mount up and head off and explore. One of the great advantages of Puerto Aventuras over Cities like Cancun and Playa Del Carmen is that there are no parkingn issues in Puerto Aventuras. Hotels as well as the destination itself has plenty of parking and no traffic. If you are going to take the car to Cancun or Playa Del Carmen please use the public parking lots which cost about a dollar per hour. Parking on the street can be challenging and fines and inconvenience for parking in restricted areas range from $50 dollars and 2 or 3 hours to recover the license plates from the car (yes here the police take the license plates from the car to guarantee you go and pay the ticket) to having the car towed away.
